Formula Ford Test

It has been a busy week for James, on friday he tested the new Formula Ford EcoBoost car at Silverstone with JTR.  Incredibly for his local track, James has never driven the National Circuit at Silverstone before, but was again quick matching the times of other drivers that have had several days in the new car.

Team Principle Nick Tandy commented, “James took to the new EcoBoost car extremely well, he clearly knows what he is doing behind the wheel of a race car. I believe Formula Ford would benefit from a driver like James as much as he would benefit from racing in the series himself.”

P3 after 6 month break

James Peace posted a top three time during official Intersteps testing this week despite having 6 months out of the car.  Peace with limited running immediately blew away the cobwebs and was P2 early in the afternoon session of the second day of the test.  “It was great to get back in the car and I feel I have shown that without even modifying the car that Falcon kindly let me use, I could quickly get back to where I should be, up the front!”

Peace shows his Calibre

James Peace took another step forward in his career by putting in a high class performance at the Henry Surtees Foundation Trophy this week. The charity event organised by John Surtees OBE was a “Who’s Who” of British Motorsport talent. With the likes of Scott Malvern, Oliver Rowland, Alex Simms, Harry Ticknell, Oliver Webb, Jack Harvey, Josh Webster, Jody Fannin & Jake Dennis to name but a few, the competition was going to be tough.

Peace’s pace on equal equipment shone through. During the free practice sessions, Peace’s name rarely exited the top three and MSA Academy Coordinator Greg Symes commented on the consistency of the times Peace was able to post.

Peace to mix it with the elite

Formula BMW InterSteps star James Peace has been selected to represent the MSA Academy at the prestigious Henry Surtees Trophy. James used to watch Henry drive around home kart tracks Rissington and Shenington, and jumped at the chance to support the event. “Getting support to do Motorsport is exceptionally difficult, so an opportunity like this is a perfect chance to give something back to organisations and charities.”

Having shown recent form in the InterSteps Championship, taking 11 podiums from 18 finishes which included 2 wins, 2 poles, 3 fastest laps, 2 second places and 7 third places, the MSA selected James to drive for the Academy Team. It was at Buckmore Park last year that James sealed the Junior TKM British Championship, in which he dominated the season, taking 8 podiums from 12 races and 4 wins.

Give Peace a chance

James Peace finished a strong year in the Intersteps Championship claiming 2 wins, 11 podiums, 2 pole positions and 3 fastest laps, but even considering this fantastic set of results, his future is far from certain.

Unlike many of his competitors for the 2011 championship, Peace had only 2 days testing before the season started. “That put me on the back foot for a while”, said James.

Progress for Peace

Whilst his closest rivals in the 2011 Intersteps Championship embark for excursions in other formula, Motaworld driver, James Peace opts for a more consolidated approach.

The current Junior TKM British Kart Champion, who lives near Oxford, sits 4th in the Intersteps Championship and mathematically could still win the series. Peace, who moved to single seaters this year, has had limited testing due to finalising the sponsorship deal only days before Intersteps was to start, but has shown a true talent against the odds.

2010 SKRC Driver of the Year

It is always great to win races and pick up applause for what you have worked hard for and won fair and square, but to be the recipient of an award voted for by people you have only come to know through your exploits on track is a great honour. On Saturday, James won the “Driver of the Year” award from Shenington Kart Club. It has many, many names on it. Included in those names are many champions including 1992 Formula One World Champion Nigel Mansell. This week sees the Autosport International Exhibition, where James will be attending on the MSA stand as part of his MSA Academy work, and picking up his 2010 British Championship trophy at 12:00am Saturday 15th.
